What Happens on my first lesson?
The first lesson is an assessment class where we discuss what you have been doing musically, your achievements, your goals, any challenges you want to address, we assess your current capabilities and advise you on what is needed to reach your goals. You will walk away with a solid plan to of what lessons will involve, a valuable understanding of the basics of your instrument and simple practice exercises to work with.
What do I need to bring to my lessons?
On your first class we ask you bring a song you can sing / play along to or your own recorded material for us to assess your level at that time. If you don’t have anything that is fine as well as we will take you through some basics.
On all other classes we ask you to buy and bring a music journal to write down areas we cover in ALL your classes. This is invaluable for learning.
What do lessons cost and how long are the lessons?
$30 – ½ Hour – Pre teen junior students
$55 – 1 Hour – Teenagers & up
These are typical times for regular lessons, however some lessons may require an hour or more for both junior and senior students when recording. We chat about all recordings in advance as these incur additional costs for studio time.
Can I pay on the day or in advance?
Yes you can pay on the day and you can pay in advance. Please ask for a receipt if you require one for your records.
Do you have block class payments?
Yes – Pay for 10 classes & receive your 11th class FREE. This applies to both ½ hour & 1 hour classes and is a popular way to pay for a term of lessons.
Can I drop my child off for class & return to collect them later?
Yes, however you must come to the door to collect your child for safety and security purposes. Additionally please notify us if a relative or other adult needs to collect your child during a lesson, if you are unable to, even as a one off situation. This will ensure you, your child and our teacher is aware of your circumstance for your child’s safety.
Can I wait while my child’s has their lesson?
You are welcome to attend the lesson with your child especially for their first class, however there is no waiting area available while lessons are on and you will need to wait in your car. Alternatively the local Lake Haven Shopping Centre is minutes away to have some quite time to yourself and grab a coffee.
What is your Cancellation Policy?
All cancellations made prior to 48 hours of the scheduled lesson time can be automatically rescheduled to the following week with no fee due. When a cancellation is made with less than 48 hours notice, the lesson fee is payable in full. If possible the lesson may be rescheduled before the next week’s lesson, as a catch up lesson, but only if there is a free lesson time available.
Regular weekly lessons are allocated for each student, however, if a student cancels 3 lessons in a row this lesson time may be given to another student. We recommend discussing any difficulties or changes of circumstance with us so we can work together with you to maintain your regular weekly lesson time.
We also encourage students to attend classes instead of cancelling (unless you are contagiously sick of course), as this teaches you professionalism. As a working professional in the real world, your work is booked months in advance and to get paid you must work through regardless of circumstance.
Additionally we can swap your lesson to a Zoom lesson on the day to avoid the loss of a lesson paid. Just notify us as soon as possible to do so.
